The new Saab 9-3 convertible

saab_2.jpg

The new Saab 9-3 convertible breaks the mould. Not only is it a damn fine looking automobile: it’s got so much more than the fine, sleek curves of a Swedish sports car. Developments under the bonnet prove more radical, with an 11-strong line-up that includes a choice of six petrol engines, three diesels and two BioPower, bioethanol E85 compatible units, of which all but the base, 1.8i petrol are turbocharged. The most interesting petrol powerplants are a brace of 2.8-litre, 24-valve V6 turbos, one of which offers a 5bhp increase in maximum power (to 255bhp) while the other has been uprated to 280bhp for use in conjunction with a new four-wheel-drive system, XWD (Cross Wheel Drive).

jorge-los-amates-house-2.jpg

Los Amates House lies in a tourist resort in Morelos, 60 kilometers South of Mexico City. The vegetation and the warm weather of the area, as well as the customer’s needs, were three important factors for the design of this house. A light stone platform separates the house from the ground. In the first level, light vertical reinforcements and a glass curtain give a free space to the dining room-parlor area. A detailed wooden lattice makes it possible to communicate the guest’s bedroom with all the other services of the house and it gives warmness and texture to the project. A thin concrete plane that folds itself structures and gives the private space of the house in the high floor; an outdoor corridor serves as mirador and link to communicate each space in this level. The double height in the parlor and a light folding glass integrate the house to the context and make it possible that the outer and inner spaces become one. The swimming pool complements the program; it begins in the platform and it makes it possible to merge the atmosphere of the house with its natural surroundings.

Asus Lamborghini VX1

asus_lamborghini_vx1.jpg

Asus Lamborghini VX1: Can’t afford to spring for a Lamborghini? The new ASUS VX1 might just fill your sports car void. The auto-esque features include a special mirror paint finish, a slanted lid designed to resemble a sports car hood, and the trademark raging-bull logo on its brushed aluminum shell. To say the laptop’s designers were inspired by the luxury car line is an understatement - even the LED display design is a replication of the Murcielago Barchetta’s air diffuser mesh. At around $3,000, the VX1 is pricy - but hey: compare it with the price of an actual Gallardo Spyder, and you’re saving a hundred thou or two.

Puma Urban Mobility

puma_urban_mobility.jpg

Puma launched it’s Urban Mobility line in London on Sunday night. The line is a mix of old Puma product, like a bike and shoes, and new accessories including the X-Ray belt, a belt with no metal parts to slow you down at airport security. There was also a limited edition Urban Mobility bag, made of white leather with a rosewood base. At 650 euro ($875), the bag is still less than the items in the designer collaborations group (which includes products by Alexander McQueen and Neil Barrett), but above that of most Puma product.
