The new Saab 9-3 convertible
Published by Anwar July 31st, 2007The new Saab 9-3 convertible breaks the mould. Not only is it a damn fine looking automobile: it’s got so much more than the fine, sleek curves of a Swedish sports car. Developments under the bonnet prove more radical, with an 11-strong line-up that includes a choice of six petrol engines, three diesels and two BioPower, bioethanol E85 compatible units, of which all but the base, 1.8i petrol are turbocharged. The most interesting petrol powerplants are a brace of 2.8-litre, 24-valve V6 turbos, one of which offers a 5bhp increase in maximum power (to 255bhp) while the other has been uprated to 280bhp for use in conjunction with a new four-wheel-drive system, XWD (Cross Wheel Drive).
