Car seats are so hard to deal with, or so we hear. We haven’t been in one in a while. The designers at Think/Thing were tired of having to hunch into the back seats of their cars adjusting straps as their children screamed. Their solution? The Nestt car seat, an egg-shaped contraption that you can swivel and adjust with just one hand. Its skeleton is a steel safety cage that provides side-impact protection for babies. Though pictures make it look like a pie-in-the-sky concept, the designers made sure it complies with Federal Motor Vehicle safety standards. With its colorful and luxurious memory foam cushions, we’re betting that when it hits the market the Nestt will replace luxury strollers as the new must-have baby accessory.

The new elements of New Concepts collection, are conceived to go beyond the traditional solutions, which allow to “place” or ”hold” passively the electronic equipments. Not only cabinets that support or contain the technology, but a real integration, physical and aesthetical, of the audio-video devices, smartly hidden in the unit to surprisingly appear only when it is needed. From a passive background element of the “scenography”, the wall-unit becomes an active protagonist of the communication and home entertainment. Units transmitting images, hiding and integrating the screens. Units playing music with an absolutely astonishing sound quality, greatly higher than the one of a normal TV speaker.

The lights of the lamp mimic natural day cycles, stimulating our sight. The smell of the grass within the lamp, along with the act of nurturing the plant allows the office to be less removed from activities and senses that have been proven to enhance creativity and productivity. By having a mouse pad attached, the sensory lamp stays close to you, allowing interaction. In a step towards the office of the future, the Sensory Lamp takes us back to nature.

As a design portfolio goes, it’s difficult to argue with the man who drew up the Ford Mustang, Focus RS and S-Max. That man is David Hilton, and this is his latest project: a British-built supercar called the MC1.

“The clients for this house renovation / extension, a couple with three daughters, are a creative, democratic unit. The father directs film trailers, the mother is a graphic designer and illustrator, while the high school / middle school / elementary school aged daughters are all immersed in their own versions of visual cultures. The family has asked that 1,000 sf be added to the site in addition to the existing 1,000 sf house. They have also asked that the architecture serve to articulate their identity as a “family brand” that is unique to their unit”.
