Schimmel Pegasus Grand Piano, a daring flight of fantasy
Published by square. September 24th, 2008 0 CommentsPegasus – at first it was just a daring flight of fantasy on the part of the eccentric German designer Prof. Luigi Colani and the German piano manufacturer Nikolaus Wilhelm Schimmel, who inherited a pioneer spirit from his grandfather and father. It was their vision to free the grand piano, the most expressive of traditional acoustic musical instruments, from its form which had hardly changed in the past 150 years, as well as to lend the upright piano a future-oriented design.

The Spaghetti Bench takes it’s inspiration from the universal park bench
Published by square. September 24th, 2008 0 Comments“The Spaghetti Bench takes it’s inspiration from the universal park bench “everyone has sat on a bench like this, some have been kissed on one, others have waited for their kid on one, they are common to everybody”. Reinoso plugs into the consciousness, by twisting the familiar and conjuring up a playful, fantastical alter reality, empowering the wooden slats to resurrect back into swirling, growing live tendrils”.

Have you repeatedly come across the same word in the book, but never know its exact meaning? Or chance upon a familiar French expression but do not know how to pronounce it correctly? If we stop to jot it down or to check the diction-ary, it would have broken the flow and pleasure of reading. What if I could just run my finger across these letters and have its meaning or pronun-ciation whispered into my ear? Touch-Hear makes obtaining additional infor-mation while reading intrinsic. By touching a word or phrase in a particular piece of reading material, the user can listen to its related information, like its pronunciation or its meaning. We examine the possibility of expanding the human potential through technological devices, innately empowering users in their everyday activities.

Published by square. September 21st, 2008 0 CommentsFor a long while, user-centric laptop designs have been a hit and miss in the aesthetics department. The recent Hewlett Packard collaboration with fashion designer Vivienne Tam to create a peony-inspired mini notebook might just cross the chasm between technology and fashion. Gleaming red and bursting with pink and purple peony flowers, the digital clutch notebook is the perfect embodiment of double happiness — Tam’s stunning design on the outside and HP’s reliable technology on the inside. Tam personally designed the finishing touches, including an elegant embroidered HP Vivienne Tam sleeve that will ship with the notebook to help keep the exterior protected.
