Carl Menary a passionate Industrial Designer has designed a rather novel idea of re-using truck tyres. Created from a single trye folded and bolted this eco-friendly seat can surely help to reduce ones carbon footprint as it eliminates the need to burn used tyres.

The Blur Hotel, located on the site of a large government office beside the western Gate of the Forbidden City, is an experiment in “urban acupuncture”. As a refurbishment proposal, the project aims to harmonize the existing building with its surroundings and provide a beacon for renewal of the surrounding area. The first strategy is to open out the ground floor of the building to create a layer of traversable space occupied by public-oriented programs.

Story via Droog Lab

NL architects have been working together since 1997 and realised a wide variety of provocative and humorous projects: from a vase for Cor Unum (Den Bosch) to the new shop layout for Mandarina Duck (Paris). They are now working on a commission for the Groninger Forum, a new eye catcher in the eponymous city that will combine public library, cinema, historical museum and other functions in the city’s central square.

BMW ZX-6 Concept BMW ZX-6 Concept by Jai Ho Yoo and Lukas Vanek

The third year  students of the post-high Transportation Design School - Car Design Course (academic Year 2007-2008) at the Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin were faced with a challenge launched in partnership with BMW. The thesis brief was “Designing the BMW of 2015, interpreting the language evolution and the trademark essence, in view of the company’s future perspectives”.

This unconventional lamp is six and a half feet tall, with a silk shade on slender rods that evoke a dragonfly’s legs. Next to an easy chair, it’s a task light; by a wall, ambient lighting; in a corner, it is an accent to simply admire. It’s 3 legs are made of wood, and luscious powder coated finishes.

Tracey loves Titian … Emin holds a reproduction of Titian’s Diana and Actaeon on the steps of 10 Downing Street, London.

Signed by the likes of Lucian Freud, Damien Hirst and David Hockney, the petition says the two 16th Century works have “inspired generations”. The national galleries of Scotland and London hope to raise £50m to save Diana and Actaeon by December 31. If they are successful, the second painting Diana and Callisto will also be offered for sale. Both of the paintings are being sold by the Duke of Sutherland. His price is £50m per painting a third of the estimated open market value.
